At the age of seven, Bérénice Watteau knew she would become a perfumer. Though born in northern France, it was in the vibrant pulse of Paris, where she was raised that this calling emerged, nurtured by her family’s deep artistic spirit and celebration of creativity. Early on, she discovered her own unique medium in the invisible yet powerful art of scent.

After earning her degree in Chemistry from the Pierre and Marie Curie University, Bérénice continued her education at ISIPCA, graduating in 2014, and later deepened her knowledge of perfume marketing at ESSEC. In 2018, she joined Puig in Barcelona as a Junior Perfumer. The following year, she joined dsm-firmenich, where she perfected her craft alongside inspiring perfumers such as Principal Perfumers Amandine Clerc Marie and Clément Gavarry, and Master Perfumer Martin Koh.

Wanderlust coursed through Bérénice’s veins at an early age. Her teenage years were marked by transformative journeys through Ethiopia, India, and Myanmar—each place adding new dimensions to her olfactory palette. At 30, she moved to New York, where she experienced another sensory awakening through the vibrant, fast-paced city life that offered her a fresh perspective on freedom and creativity. It was on the restless shores of Long Island that she discovered surfing—a discipline requiring both resilience and focus, much like the creative process in perfumery, with each wave conquered representing the satisfaction of moving closer to the exhilarating crest of a completed fragrance.

Among her most treasured ingredients is Ambrox®, a compound she associates with a mineral sensuality— both warm and cold, utterly addictive. This fascination with contrasts is evident in all her creations, where each perfume is defined by a delicate balance between seemingly incompatible ingredients, masterfully blended into unexpectedly captivating scents.
