Agnès Thanasack | Manager Regulatory Affairs DS
Agnès is an accomplished Global Regulatory Affairs Manager with 20 years of experience in the food and nutrition sectors, currently leading Postbiotics Dietary Supplement regulatory strategy at dsm-firmenich in Switzerland. With a strong background in human nutrition, dietary supplements, and food safety, she has successfully navigated complex regulatory landscapes for prominent companies like Lesaffre and Mead Johnson Nutrition. Agnès is an regulatory expert in food supplements, compliance, registration, claims and labeling, and has a proven track record of fostering relationships with regulatory bodies across Europe. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition from AgroParisTech and is passionate about driving innovation while ensuring the safety and efficacy of nutrition products.

Kevin Asay | Manager Regulatory Affairs DS
Kevin is a Regulatory Affairs Manager for Dietary Supplements at dsm-firmenich.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah.  He has more than 20-years experience in the dietary supplement industry with the majority of those years spent in Regulatory Affairs.  In recent years, he has focused on Health from the Gut.

Dr. Jonas Wittwer Schegg | Director Innovation & Science HfG
Jonas has a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Zurich. He joined dsm-firmenich 18 years ago and held several roles including Head of Clinical Research, Global R&D Lead for Dietary Supplements, Open Innovation Lead and Senior Innovation Manager for Health from the Gut. Currently, he is heading the Innovation and R&D Team for Health from the Gut for Dietary Supplements.

PD Dr. Robert Steinert | Principal Scientist HfG
Robert is a Principal Scientist in the Health, Nutrition & Care unit of dsm-firmenich. He earned his PhD in GI physiology from ETH Zurich followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Adelaide. Robert joined dsm-firmenich in 2014 and has held several roles, including R&D Segment Lead Gut-Health and Global Science Lead Biocare-Copenhagen. Robert also works part-time as Privatdozent at Zurich University and serves as co-chair of the scientific committee of IPA. Robert has co-authored >70 peer-reviewed publications & 15 patents.​

Dr. Danica Bajic | Innovation Manager HfG
Danica is an Innovation manager in the Health, Nutrition, and Care division of dsm-firmenich. After completing her PhD and postdoc studies at Technical University Munich and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she joined dsm-firmenich in 2021. Here she is responsible for driving the innovation efforts across various ingredients and concepts, and for identifying external and internal collaborators with cutting-edge technologies and know-how. She is also a company representative at ILSI Europe Prebiotics Taskforce.

Dr. Mehdi Sadaghian | Associate Principal Scientist HfG
Mehdi is a Microbiome Scientist with a PhD from the University of Groningen, where he studied the effects of vitamins on anaerobic bacteria within the human gut microbiome. After completing his doctoral research, he did four years of postdoctoral work at the same university, further advancing his expertise in gut microbiology. Mehdi then transitioned into industry roles, starting at Nestlé Research in Lausanne, Switzerland, as a Microbiome Specialist, and later at Chr. Hansen in Denmark as a Scientific Advisor for probiotics and HMO businesses. Since 2022, he has been working at dsm-firmenich as a Clinical Trial Manager for the Health from the Gut initiative, contributing to innovative research and development in human health and nutrition.

Dr. Erik Eckhardt | Principal Scientist HfG
Erik obtained a PhD in Biochemistry at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. After his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School, he became assistant professor at the University of Kentucky, where he conducted several NIH-funded research projects, with joint appointments in the Graduate Center for Nutritional Sciences and the departments of Internal Medicine and of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. He has published more than 30 papers and patents. Since 2012 he has been working in the industry for human and animal nutrition, developing solutions for digestive health and immunity. In 2021 he joined Adare Biome as R&D director, to develop postbiotics for digestive and overall health, and has been Postbiotic Platform Lead at dsm-firmenich since the acquisition of Adare Biome.

Dr. Ateequr Rehmann | Associate Principal Scientist HfG
Ateequr is an Associate Principal Scientist in the Health, Nutrition, and Care unit of dsm-firmenich. After completing his PhD in Microbiology at the University of Lucknow, India, he joined the University Clinic Kiel as a postdoctoral research fellow, where he studied host-microbiome interactions in inflammatory diseases, with a focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Rehman later established and led the Microbiome Platform at the Institute of Clinical Microbiology, Kiel. He has contributed to over 50 research publications, advancing the field of microbiome research and its clinical applications.

Dr. Leigh Oullette | Scientist Microbiome
Leigh is a Microbiome Scientist in Science & Research division at dsm-firmenich. She earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at The College of New Jersey and her PhD in chemical biology at Harvard University studying antibacterial resistance. From there, she did her postdoctoral work at Brigham and Women’s Hospital studying beneficial gut microbes and their metabolites. Leigh joined dsm-firmenich in 2021 and helped to kick-start human microbiome projects at the site in Lexington, Massachusetts. Currently she is involved in early R&D projects identifying new products for the pre-clinical pipeline.

Antoine Riviere | Innovation Expert HfG
Antoine is a dynamic project manager with over 10 years of experience in various products development. He holds an engineering degree in biotechnologies and applied microbiology from the Ecole Supérieur d’Ingenieur de Luminy in Marseille, France. Antoine has worked for different companies such as Puratos, Algaïa and BioRad with a focus on industrial innovation dedicated to Food, In-Vitro Diagnostic and Pharma. Antoine joined dsm-firmenich in 2023 through the acquisition of AdareBiome Houdan. Today he mainly coordinates new products development and launches for the postbiotic business.

Dr. Nize Otaru | Scientist HfG
Nize has a MSc in Food Science and a PhD from ETH Zürich specializing in gut microbiota research. She brings significant experience in preclinical and human studies. Nize joined dsm-firmenich in 2023 as a Scientist in the Health, Nutrition & Care unit, where she manages in-vitro experiments and clinical trials.

Dr. Anne-Sophie Boucard | Associate Scientist
Anne-Sophie Boucard is an Associate Scientist in the Health, Nutrition and Care unit of dsm-firmenich. She earned her PhD in Microbiology from Paris-Saclay University, France. During her PhD, she studied microbial ecology and host-microbe interactions with a focus on biotics and digestive health at Boehringer Ingelheim. Anne-Sophie joined dsm-firmenich in 2023, contributing to R&D activities on postbiotics for Health from the Gut.

Dr. Brian Klein | Associate Principal Scientist Microbiome
Brian Klein is an Associate Principal Scientist in Science & Research division at dsm-firmenich. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at Bates College, where he studied the effects of tea-derived compounds on the pathogenic species involved in human oral diseases. He then earned his PhD in Molecular Microbiology at Tufts University School of Medicine as an NRSA F31 fellow studying microbe-microbe interactions and the effects of mutagenesis on the human oral pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis. Brian was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship via the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and carried out the work at the Harvard Dental School/Forsyth Institute to better understand athlete microbiomes and athletic facilities’ built microbiomes. Following his postdoc Brian led the Microbiology and Translational Medicine groups at Vedanta Biosciences from 2017 to 2020. In 2020 Brian founded his own company, BrickBuilt Therapeutics, and then sold it in 2022 to DermBiont Inc., where he worked until joining dsm-firmenich in 2022 at the site in Lexington, Massachusetts. Currently he leads the team in multiple projects across all business units; focused on pre-clinical setup, screening, and validation.

Sonja Kleinke | Assoc. Dir. Global Marketing DS
Sonja graduated in food engineering at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn in Germany. After her graduation she has worked in various sales positions for multi-national companies like Cargill and Chr. Hansen in food, pharma and dietary supplements business. Since 2021 Sonja has been part of dsm-firmenich Health, Nutrition & Care. Today she is leading the marketing activities for Health from the Gut in Dietary Supplements.

Brice Calcio | Manager Global Marketing DS
Brice graduated in food science engineering at Polytech’Lille in France and has a MBA in International Marketing from Argosy University, Florida, USA. He has worked for more than 25 years in international companies in food, pharma and dietary supplements as Sales Director and Business Unit Manager. He joined dsm-firmenich in 2023, being part of Health from the Gut, within HNC, as Marketing Manager for Dietary Supplements, supporting Market intelligence and competition insights, editing internal HfG  global newsletter.

Dr. Alexandra Waskow | Assoc. Innovation Manager Market Ready Solutions (MRS)
Alexandra realized her interest in nutrition when she was working for General Nutrition Center (GNC) in Toronto, Canada, which was shortly later reaffirmed when she worked on the effects of prebiotics on microbial communities in a mouse model of intestinal injury in collaboration with the Hospital for Sick Children during her Bachelor thesis. She then decided to complete a nutrition diploma before moving abroad for her studies and further pursued her MSc in Microbiology and Immunology at ETH Zurich and PhD in Biotechnology and Bioengineering at EPFL. She joined dsm-firmenich in 2022 where she supports the global and regional teams with prototype and product development, mainly for the HfG platform, using both her technical knowledge and project management skills.

Srikanth Ineedi | Global Business Development Manager
Srikanth is the Global Business Development Manager of Biotics and Enzymes at dsm-firmenich, a leader in health, nutrition, and biosciences. Originally from India and currently based out of the USA, Srikanth is a pharmacologist by education with 12 years of experience in the biotic space. In his current role, Srikanth drives global business development initiatives, expanding dsm-firmenich’s market presence through innovative product offerings based on pre, pro, and post-biotic solutions. He has cross-functional leadership experience in leading quality management, product development, and regulatory affairs functions prior to switching to his current business development role.

Dr. Katja Berg | Sr. Dir. Patent Portfolio Strategy HNC
Katja is Sr Dir Patent Portfolio Strategy for HNC at dsm-firmenich. She holds a PhD in organic chemistry and qualified as European and Swiss patent attorney. She has more than 25 years’ experience in the Human Nutrition and Care industry with 10 years in R&D and 18 years in Patents.

Svenja is a qualified European and German Patent Attorney with over 20 years of experience in private practice and as an in-house counsel. She holds a degree in Biology and a PhD in Molecular Immunology. Svenja joined dsm-firmenich in 2022.
