Quali®-B (Vitamin B12)
Vitamin B12, auch Cobalamin genannt, ist ein wasserlösliches Vitamin, das am Stoffwechsel jeder Zelle des menschlichen Körpers beteiligt ist. Es ist ein Cofaktor bei der DNA-Synthese und sowohl beim Fettsäure- als auch beim Aminosäurestoffwechsel.
Vitamin B12 Übersicht
Vitamin B12 wird ausschließlich durch mikrobielle Synthese im Verdauungstrakt von Tieren gebildet. Daher sind tierische Eiweißprodukte, insbesondere Organfleisch (z. B. Leber, Niere), die Quelle für Vitamin B12 in der menschlichen Ernährung. Andere gute Quellen sind Fisch, Eier und Milchprodukte.
Eine ausreichende Zufuhr von Vitamin B12 ist unerlässlich, damit der Körper die Nahrung in Glukose umwandeln kann, die zur Energiegewinnung, zur Erhaltung normaler Nervenzellen und - zusammen mit Vitamin B9 (Folat) - zur Bildung roter Blutkörperchen verwendet wird. Vitamin B12 wird häufig zur Anreicherung von Getreideprodukten und bestimmten Getränken verwendet.
