VevoVitall®

dsm-firmenich PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS

Delivering optimal swine performance

For swine nutritionists and veterinarians seeking more effective solutions to support nursery pig performance, VevoVitall® is an ultra-pure form of benzoic acid that — when used as a feed acidifier — enhances nutrient digestibility, potentially optimizing post-weaning growth rates.

Outperform the other feed acidifiers.

Benzoic acid, a well-established acidifier in the swine industry, has been proven to be more effective than other common acidifiers (organic acids) in the areas that affect animal performance the most: reducing pH of the digesta in the GI tract and improving nutrient digestibility.

Ultimately, VevoVitall® is metabolized in the body and excreted predominantly as hippuric acid in the urine, reducing the pH of the urine, therefore reducing ammonia emissions.

Improve nutrient digestibility to support nursery performance.

When consumed through the feed, feed acidifiers modulate the pH of the gastrointestinal tract, which aids in nutrient digestibility. Research has shown that by including acidifiers in diet, you can:

  • Increase average daily gain (ADG)
  • Increase average daily feed intake (ADFI)
  • Improve feed conversion
  • Reduce the pH of digesta

Since 2013, VevoVitall® has been studied in 10 individual trials in over 4,000 pigs. Parameters evaluated include average daily gain, average daily feed intake and feed to gain. VevoVitall® consistently improved performance in each area, compared to control, throughout the 10 trials when fed in starter rations at a 0.50% inclusion rate.

The benefits of VevoVitall® begin with feed acidification.

Dr. Jon Bergstrom, senior swine technical support manager for dsm-firmenich, explains how VevoVitall® helps swine producers with weaning pigs digestive health.
