Biosecurity continues to be top of mind among the industry and virus transmission in feed and feed ingredients has become a focus of increasing research lately. As we are now in the heart of the winter months, many producers are deploying risk management strategies in their feed inputs as a tool to keep the feed secure. Good biosecurity practices help in producing a healthy herd.

According to the most recent 2023 corn crop mycotoxin survey from dsm-firmenich, 94% of the samples tested positive for more than one mycotoxin and 78% of the corn samples were contaminated with multiple mycotoxins. Co-contamination of multiple mycotoxins can result in additive or synergistic effects. Mycotoxin mitigation strategies can be added to the diet to prevent absorption of the mycotoxins as well as enzymes to detoxify mycotoxins.
