“I have water, but no fish”

Dear Colleague,

Have you ever heard of the phrase, “I have water, but no fish”? Does this remind you  of how natural resources are important to us? Since, natural water is the most precious resource of aquaculture, we all need to protect this treasure.

Nowadays, the intensification of aquaculture production increases waste generation. The amount of waste generated is associated with nutrients in feed, that could be a cause of concern within aquaculture, especially towards phosphorus content. This concern brought us to Ronozyme® HiPhos project with the biggest fish farm in Indonesia, that produce Tilapia 40,000 MT/year at Lake Toba. As a result, we could see that Ronozyme® HiPhos can reduce the amount of indigestible phosphorus released into the lake by 25%. Since Ronozyme® HiPhos efficiently releases phytase-phosphorus from plant based feed ingredients, we can reduce the total phosphorus level in feed, while fish growth is not compromised. This proof opens the minds and eyes of fish producers.

As part of DSM, we are glad to offer solutions to fish producers in order to protect natural resources. We are proud to deliver our value of DSM products to the industry. In this modern era, sustainable aquaculture is a goal to achieve and making change is a must.
