Why is it important?

Calcium (Ca) and Phosphorus (P) are two key elements that ensure bone health and eggshell quality.
Bone health sets the foundation for muscle growth and prevents welfare issues such as lameness. Eggshell quality is expected by table egg consumers and is also an important factor for hatchability in breeders.
Ensuring bone health and eggshell quality requires adequate supply and form of Ca & P. For example, variation in limestone quality can lead to over or underestimation of Ca & P, impacting bone health and or eggshell quality.
