Mycotoxins, such as aflatoxins, trichothecenes, deoxynivalenol and zearalenone, are naturally produced by the fungi that can contaminate feed raw materials in the field and during storage. When ingested by animals, mycotoxins have a wide range of negative effects such as impaired reproduction, digestive disorders, carcinogenicity, and reduced performance.

About the survey

Each year since 2004, dsm-firmenich has analyzed a large number of feed samples from all around the world to understand and monitor contamination levels of the different mycotoxins in a variety of feed ingredients. This information is shared in the annual dsm-firmenich World Mycotoxin Survey.

January to March 2023 results

Until March, 6,188 samples were collected and analyzed from 60 countries around the world, and the report is now available for you to download.

From a global perspective the Fusarium mycotoxins fumonisins, deoxynivalenol and zearalenone are most frequently found. Prevalence of mycotoxins and risk varies between regions and was the highest for North America, South Asia and China and Taiwan. Download the report and check the prevalence and risk levels in your country to ensure you are implementing the right mycotoxin management strategy.
