Firmenich at WPC

Earlier this Summer, Firmenich was proud to sponsor the 2022 edition of the World Perfumery Congress (WPC) in Miami Beach, Florida. WPC is an unmissable three-day event dedicated to the future of the fragrance industry! Colleagues, partners, and perfume lovers joined together to learn about the latest in fragrance development, creativity, technology and business. It was an incredible time to discuss, exchange and collaborate on the unique future opportunities and unite with fellow fragrance industry professionals.

WPC is an unmissable three-day event dedicated to the future of the fragrance industry! Colleagues, partners, and perfume lovers joined together to learn about the latest in fragrance development, creativity, technology and business. It was an incredible time to discuss, exchange and collaborate on the unique future opportunities and unite with fellow fragrance industry professionals. 

During WPC, our Perfumery and Ingredients teams welcome customers, partners and other industry attendees at our Firmenich exhibition stand to discover our 2022 Sharing Innovation Collection, a one-of-a-kind collection of carefully selected Firmenich signature ingredients, to ignite creativity and broaden perfume palettes worldwide.

This year’s collection of five prized ingredients celebrates Firmenich's dedication to nature, green science and cutting-edge technology. They include three freshly unveiled proprietary ingredients, which were previously exclusive to Firmenich: an incomparably close to nature Lily-of-the-valley note that scores high on green chemistry; a 100% renewable ingredient made using biotechnology; and a natural Rose of high fidelity brought to life by an exclusive cold concentration technique. Also inside the collection is a synthetic molecule made from upcycled materials, and finally a natural ingredient with full traceability through our groundbreaking digital application Path2Farm™. Several Firmenich perfumers were also present to meet with our customers and share their exclusive insights on this collection, including how it is enhancing their ability to craft sustainable fragrances from our renewable biotech ingredients, sustainable synthetics and responsibly sourced naturals.

In addition to the exhibition area, Firmenich took center stage for several important discussions on the future of the perfumery industry and fragrance creation.

Ilaria Resta, President of Perfumery, and Principal Perfumer, Frank Voelkl delivered a unique dialogue session sharing their perspectives on the changing landscape of the perfumery industry as well as key insights into how shifts in consumer’s mindset and preferences are disrupting the way we see and engage with perfumes. They also touched on how the role of fragrance in people’s lives is changing, from new applications and new ways of purchasing, all the way to new demands for even more unique, sustainable and positive perfumery creation.

Firmenich’s VP of Conscious Perfumery, Michal Benmayor, participated in engaging panel discussion on “Fragrance’s Sustainable Future.” In front of a packed audience, Michal spoke alongside other industry thought leaders on the importance of advancing sustainability in our industry with measurable science-based targets. From responsible sourcing and innovative ways of farming, like our partnership with Jungle, all the way to conscious and clean formulation through EcoScent Compass™, Michal shared Firmenich’s unique perspectives on sustainable perfumery today.  In addition, she explained how we plan to keep on driving conscious and positive fragrance creation for people and planet for years to come.

Agilex Fragrances’ Perfumer, Neha Okhade, also delivered a compelling keynote on the effect of fragrances on emotional and physical wellbeing. During her presentation, Neha explained how fragrances have contributed to more calming spaces during the pandemic and how consumer’s desires for enhancing wellbeing through products is driving new opportunities in fragrances.
